The hole in the spoon is designed to swirl food as you stir making for smoother sauces an easier stirring.

haven’t you spoon curious people of the internet ever heard of uncle Google? The hole is there because it makes the spoon HOLY.

I believe the wooden spoon with a hole in it is for stirring sauces…anyways there are lots of other perfectly reasonable explanations for this. And who cares? It looks funny though.

@spoonballs
I bet you liked bacon before it went mainstream.

Isn’t the hole in the spoon used to measure the approximate amount of dry spaghetti per serving? That’s what I’ve been told.

Why does everyone think it’s cool to like bacon these days?

“A lot of people are asking me about why there’s a hole in my spoon. That is a really interesting question. *Completely changes topic*”

It is not a spoon. It is a soup/sauce stirring implement. Do you also eat your soup with a fork? The hole is for the soup/sauce to flow through and keep the viscosity of the dish consistent, while at the same time; not sticking or lumping. If that hole was for measuring pasta, it wouldn’t be enough for even 1/2 of one serving..

The hole in the spoon helps with texture of the sauces and makes stirring easier. This looks like a great winter meal. Can’t wait to try it!

Chef John is the master of presentation. This could easily have looked like a bowl of diarrhea.

I did but used dried black beans, so it took way longer, and since I had a big pot of boiling beans and spices sitting on the stove, i through some lamb shanks in there to braise, just for kicks.
