This is a very good recipe. Even for those of us who eat meat. It is low cost alternative to meat especially if you don’t use the walnuts. My kids would grab them before I was even finished cooking and dip them in ketchup. They are good hot. Also I would make them about half that size for snacks. Use your imagination and tweak the ingredients.

You would be surprised just how good these are. I have not tried the walnut version though. I used to make these 30 years ago. Can’t wait to try it this way. Also you can cut your meat budget down if your family likes these.

hmm this looks delicious. I never could find a way to be creative with lentils other than soup. Thanks for the recipe! Good thing not to eat too much meat and this is something I never tried before. And vegetarians can eat eggs.

“No doctor, scientist, health authority, or otherwise will disagree” — not true. There is all kinds of disagreement & many different interpretations out there. That’s why we need to develop intuitive reasoning when trying to make sense out of this subject. As Carl Sagan once said, “arguments from authority are worthless.” Scientific kowtowing to corporate agenda is a fact of life. Scientists and studies can be purchased. Ask questions such as who paid for the study, and what do they sell? .

There is no solid evidence that reducing consumption of animal products and increasing plant foods will lower your risk of disease.

Many studies which suggest a correlation between meat eating/cholesterol intake, and disease turn out to be highly biased and very poorly constructed.

They knew more about survival from the elements and living off the land than the average person does toady, but they did not know of cabrs, fats, cholesterol, vitamins, nutrients, disease and things of this nature.

True some studies are poorly done and some are biased. But there are more than just a handful of studies. Reducing consumption of animal products and increasing plant foods will lower your risk of disease. No doctor, scientist, health authority, or otherwise will disagree.

Those high-falutin’ organizations don’t have universal clout, and are made up of human beings like us. These groups are subject to lobbying by groups with agendas. For example, the seed oil and margarine producers have worked hard to promote the false idea that cholesterol/saturated fat are bad

You and millions have been played like a Stradivarius.

“Eat what ever you like. But don’t delude yourself into thinking that it’s ‘good’ for you.”

One might say the same to you, young padewan.

So these organizations are full of shit and don’t know what they’re talking about. Lets all listen to Selatik1 for nutritional advise.

again, scientists can be purchased. And studies can be poorly done and misinterpreted. You need to develop thinking beyond “facts”, and data…

Knowledge is relative. So-called primitives know alot more about basic survival than “civilized” people.

And the way it was prepared in societies past were done with health as its goal? Grass fed free range organic meat is better than standard meat, but sauces aside it is still “bad”. You can’t ignore the mounting scientific evidence.

There was a time not long ago when smoking was believed to be healthful and prescribed by doctors. Most if not all major health organizations like the the AHA, AAP, ADA, ACS, and NIH recommend that there be an emphasis on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes with a reduction of meat and animal products in the American diet.

Eat what ever you like. But don’t delude yourself into thinking that it’s “good” for you.

The human body is remarkably resilient, someone can smoke a pack of cigarets day and wash it down with pint of whiskey and live 30-40 years. Cultures of the past had very little knowledge of the world around them let alone the medical complexity of the human body, also they ate these food in very small quantities unlike today.
